Subject Leader Self-Audit Tool
With the new Ofsted inspection toolkit removing subject deep dives, it’s now harder for leaders to demonstrate the quality of education through traditional triangulation. Instead, inspectors will be looking for clear, consistent evidence that subjects contribute to the wider evaluation areas across the school.
This Subject Leader Self-Audit Tool is designed to help departments reflect on their strengths, identify next steps, and ensure that their work is visible within this new “shallow paddle” approach. It builds on the ideas explored in my recent post, Preparing for the new era of inspection.
Subject Leader Self-Audit Tool (2025 Inspection Toolkit Alignment)
Use this tool to reflect on how your subject area contributes to the school’s overall effectiveness under the six evaluation areas in Ofsted’s 2025 framework.
The aim is not to create paperwork for inspection, but to ensure that your existing systems and evidence speak clearly to each evaluation area.
